Use of Fields and Facilities
Application Guide
To use the field, greenhouses and other facilities in ISAS, please read the followings carefully and submit the application documents. To use a forest area, visit The University of Tokyo Tanashi Forest website.
1. Everyone including the instructors at ISAS must submit the application form.
2. Applicant must be the one who are responsible for using the facility. The form can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
3. Besides the application form, please submit your research plan explaining your purpose and a period of use, size and the arrangement of the experimental plots, any technical support you need from our technical staff, and a waste disposal plan.
4. To use paddy fields, farm fields and/or greenhouses, you must read the ISAS Fields and Facilities User Guide.
5. The Committee on Use of Fields and Facilities at ISAS will review the application form and the research plan and process the application. Applicants may be required to modify the plan and rewrite the documents.
6. The application form must be submitted no later than one month prior to the starting date.
7. If you intend to use unmanned aircraft such as drones, read carefully and fully understand the safety rules by Japan Civil Aviation Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Additional application is required, so please apply according to the ISAS Unmanned Aircraft User Guide. It usually takes one month to get permission from MLIT.

The rules for flying drones and other unmanned aircraft are set forth in the revised Civil Aeronautics Act.

ISAS has also established its own additional rules.
